Somerset County, New Jersey Divorce Lawyer
I am proud that many of my new divorce and family law clients are referrals from past clients who were satisfied with the manner in which I handled their cases. These past clients have told their friends to contact the Law Offices of Leonard A. Weitzman, LLC because they recognize my ability to effectively support an individual and navigate through the complicated and stressful process of a divorce.
I am happy to discuss your divorce matter with you at my office in Bridgewater, New Jersey. Contact me online today or call (908) 333-4198.
Court-Imposed Mediation
New Jersey courts mandate certain mediation procedures to attempt to obviate the need for a more expensive trial. An Early Settlement Panel is established after the completion of discovery. During this procedure, your case is presented to experienced attorneys who review the case and make suggestions as to the best way to resolve it. This is provided as a service of the court.
If after the Early Settlement Panel, the divorcing parties are unable to resolve their differences, they are required to participate in mandatory economic mediation. If this mediation is not successful, the case is scheduled for trial.
As your attorney, I am there to participate in the entire court-imposed mediation process. While I do not serve as a central intermediary, I represent you through these proceedings and ensure that your interests and concerns are clearly expressed and totally protected.
Setting Realistic Expectations in Divorce
As you prepare for divorce, you no doubt have many questions: How will this affect my children? What are my options? Will I have to pay a lot of money in alimony, and how can I afford it? How much can I expect to receive in child support or alimony? What if I want to move away? Will I get to see my children?
